Miss High Country 2011

Rules & Regulations

Registration forms and payment must be submitted by August 20th, 2011 to avoid the $10.00 late entry fee.

Beauty: Formal dress (long or short) is required (this may be a glitz, party, or Sunday dress).  It is preferred that contestants 11 & up wear long dresses. Contestants will model in standard T formation. Contestants will be judged on their stage presence, presentation, personality, appearance and overall impression.  Scores will be added between the judges to determine the contestant’s overall score.  Any extra categories, talent, or pro-am modeling will not contribute to the average score used to determine the queen in each age division or the overall title. Contestants in the Wee Baby Miss, Baby Miss, and Toddler Miss are allowed to have a parent/relative escort them on stage.

Extras: Extra categories will be judged during the beauty category.  For the photogenic category you will need to provide a photo.  (You may bring a single photo, comp card, or portfolio, black and white or color, this does not have to be a professional photo, just one that shows the contestants face well).

Talent (optional): The talent division can include any talent (singing, dancing, instruments, etc.).  Music must be provided on a CD.  It is highly recommended that you bring a back-up copy of music to the competition. If you wish to enter into the talent division and need to utilize any equipment other than the sound system (ex: a piano, microphone, etc.), please indicate in the talent description so provisions may be made. Contestants will be judged on their technical skill level, stage presence, performance, costume/attire, and overall impression.  Scores will be added between the judges to determine the contestant’s overall score. The contestants will be appropriately divided by age.  (2 minute time limit!)

Pro-Am (optional): The theme for pro am is “At the Hop” (50’s theme).  Contestants will do their own modeling routine in an outfit that goes back in time to the 50’s.  You will provide music on a CD (bring a backup, 1-minute time limit) or we will can play a song at random. Contestants will be judged on their stage presence, personality, attire, and modeling/technique. This is an outfit of choice category, which means contestants are encouraged to be very creative with their outfit.  The routine is not to be a dance, but choreographed movement is allowed and encouraged.

Awards:  There will be a 4th through 1st runner up, and a queen in each age group in all categories.  Extra categories will also be awarded in each age group.

Overall Queens: The “Overall Little Miss High Country ” title will be given to the contestant in the Little Miss and under age division with the highest points in the Beauty Competition.

The “Overall Miss High Country” title will be given to the contestant in the Junior Miss and up age divisions with the highest points in the Beauty Competition.

**We will not double crown in the beauty division!  Therefore, the overall queens will not be the queens in their age division.**

-Contestant’s age will be determined as of September 24th, 2011. Proof of age should be available upon request. There are no marital status requirements.

-This is a fair competition judged by qualified judges. All decisions are final. Score sheets will not be given to anyone until the conclusion of the competition.

-Contestants may go natural or glitz.  Points will not be affected by use of beauty enhancements. (Another words, you are free to use beauty enhancements as you wish or you can go completely natural, each contestant is judged individually so scores will not be affected by this.)

-There will be no refunds of fees- if something occurs, fees can be used for the Miss High Country Sweetheart Pageant held in February. (Prizes are custom-made and ordered in advance and are non-returnable)

-All contestants must give the pageant permission to use their photographs and video footage for publicity purposes in connection with the pageant.

-The pageant staff is not responsible for any accident, injury, or loss during the pageant.

-Poor sportsmanship will not be allowed and will be grounds for disqualification without refund. (This includes the behavior of parents as well)

-No information will be given out concerning who is competing in the pageant or how many contestants are entered.

-The pageant director reserves the right to appropriately combine age divisions in the event there are less than three contestants in any age division.

- Failure to comply with the rules and guidelines will result in immediate disqualification and forfeiting of all prizes, fees, titles, awards, etc. A parent and/or contestant signature means both the parent and the child understand the rules and guidelines and agree to abide by them.

-All questions concerning rules, guidelines or any other pageant information should be directed to the pageant director at 828.773.0017 or in writing to: misshighcountry@gmail.com.
